Mario Draghi one year after his report on EU competitiveness

Date:
September 24, 2025
On September 16, 2025, in Brussels, the “One Year After the Draghi Report” conference took place, where Mario Draghi reviewed the EU’s progress in implementing the recommendations of his report.

The verdict? Progress has been far too slow – out of more than 300 recommendations, only a small share has been implemented.

In the field of energy, Draghi stressed that high energy prices continue to undermine the EU’s competitiveness, while the shift to renewables and grid modernization are moving too slowly. He called for joint investments and bolder reforms, reminding that every challenge identified a year ago has only deepened since then.
