EU supports clean energy in Africa – €545 million for the energy transition! 
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced a Team Europe package worth €545 million to accelerate the renewable energy transition in Africa.
 
The announcement was made via video during the Global Citizen Festival, in the context of the UN General Assembly. This marks an important milestone in the “Scaling Up Renewables in Africa” campaign, organized together with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
 
The campaign aims to raise global awareness and mobilize public and private investments to expand clean energy production and access across Africa.
