Co roku 9 maja obchodzimy Dzień Europy, upamiętniający podpisanie deklaracji Schumana w dniu 9 maja 1950 r. Deklaracja była ambitnym planem zapewnienia długoterminowego pokoju w powojennej Europie i jest uważana za początek tego, co jest obecnie UE.
