COP30 & New Climate Plans – A Step Forward, But the World Still Has Work to Do!

 
Before COP30, all countries were required to submit new or updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) – plans showing how they will cut emissions to help keep global warming well below 2°C and continue efforts to limit it to 1.5°C.

Eurostat has released a new publication dedicated to climate change mitigation!

 
Did you know that between 2013 and 2023 almost all economic sectors in the EU reduced their greenhouse gas emissions — although emissions from transport and storage increased by around 14%?
This and much more can be found in Eurostat’s online publication, providing a broad and in-depth look into this important topic.

According to the latest EU Climate Action Progress Report 2025, the European Union continues to cut emissions while keeping the economy strong.
In 2024, EU greenhouse gas emissions fell by 2.5%, and since 1990, they’ve dropped by an impressive 37.2%!

The EU's climate target for 2040

The European Union’s environment ministers recently convened to advance the bloc’s 2040 climate target, while grappling with how to translate ambition into action.
The Commission has proposed amending the European Climate Law to set a target of 90 % net greenhouse-gas emissions reduction by 2040 (vs 1990 levels).
